John Cage
"As far as consistency of thought goes, I prefer inconsistency ". The inconsistency which anihilates both beauty and ugliness, the one which drops the distinction between objectivity and subjectivity by devoiding these notions of any meaning is one of the things I like about John Cage's music. Just one among many.

I share with you this documentary which is a 10 minutes resume of his work:

Partea 1
Partea 2

and one of my favourite works, very much like a sound of zen: John Cage - In a Landscape

John Cage strikes me as something of a brilliant comedian, like Laurel & Hardy. A musician, he's not. He writes great jokes, not music.

I like this here blog. ;)

Couldn't disagree more with Vlad (though I do appreciate Cage's sense of humor).

Like him or not/like it or not, Cage is one of the most significant composers of the 20th century in that, like Schoenberg, he offered an alternative (actually, several alternatives) to western diatonic harmony, "atonality," and dodecaphony, broadening our conception of what music could be, is, and has become.
